Getting outdoors and back on course is not just a dream but a reality with the AMA VK2 CRONO and now, rewards are in store for all those participating with a taste of Monte Rosa hospitality in the final draw.

The AMA VK2 CRONO is a new free system to get athletes running on one of the most spectacular skyrunning courses in the Italian Alps with an individually timed double Vertical Kilometer®. The AMA VK2 CRONO takes off from July 5 to September 5. Anyone can take part and they can test themselves as many times as they want.

Registered runners’ times will be valid for a final draw offering bed and breakfast in a double room in a selection of some of the best hotels in the area. The first male and female will be hosted in the Mirtillo Rosso Family Hotel while the second and third draws will be assigned to Montagn di Luce and MH Cristallo; and Tre Alberi Liberi and Residence Mary respectively. Detailed information will be provided on registration.

The AMA VK2 CRONO course ascends Monte Rosa, Europe’s second highest mountain, and covers the original race course, 9 km long with 2,080m vertical climb – uphill only – to reach a challenging 3,260m altitude. Set in a stunning landscape, the terrain is very varied, winding through ancient Walser villages, steep pastures, scree and across snow fields. Adequate equipment such as poles and metal micro crampons will be necessary.

To take part in the free AMA VK2 CRONO and final draw, participants just fill in the online form. It’s enough to send back the completed GPX registration and the finishing time to take part.

More perks come from the Monte Rosa 2000 SpA cable car company offering a special price of € 15 for the descent on presentation of the runner’s registration.

As the AMA VK2 CRONO course is uphill only, tired legs will be grateful.

There’s no cut-off time of course, but an indicative “maximum” time to cover the entire course is 4h30”. As a comparison, the record for the course is 1h42’01” by Italian Nadir Maguet and 2h05’36” by French woman Iris Pessey, both set in the first edition of the race in 2019.

An option for each runner to know their finishing time and required calorie consumption in advance is available with the new #MYSKYRACE plan based on a unique algorithm. It’s free for registered entrants of the two cancelled races or to any participant at a cost of only € 5 here.

For additional peace of mind, an annual insurance coverage plan is available for just €12 valid in Europe for racing and training. Check it out here
