It’s time to get outdoors and back on course.

The AMA VK2 CRONO is a new free system to get athletes running on one of the most spectacular skyrunning courses in the Italian Alps with an individually timed double Vertical Kilometer®.

After the postponement of the Monte Rosa SkyMarathon and the AMA VK2 to June 19-20, 2021, the organisers have developed a project to keep adrenaline running high and invite runners of all levels to test themselves on the course – plus benefits for those who were entered in those races.

The AMA VK2 CRONO takes off from July 5 to September 5. Anyone can take part and they can test themselves as many times as they want.

The AMA VK2 CRONO course ascends Monte Rosa, Europe’s second highest mountain, and covers the original race course, 9 km long with 2,080m vertical climb – uphill only – to reach a challenging 3,260m altitude. Set in a stunning landscape, the terrain is very varied, winding through ancient Walser villages, steep pastures, scree and across snow fields. Adequate equipment such as poles and metal micro crampons will be necessary.

To take part, participants just fill in the online form. It’s enough to send back the completed GPX registration and finishing time. Simple.

The rewards come with a participant’s time (or times) being published at the end of the season, participation in a draw with prizes (which will be shortly announced), to integrate their performance with a specific social media campaign, and to enjoy perks like a free beer or pasta in a restaurant on the course…on the way down.

There’s no cut-off time of course, but an indicative “maximum” time to cover the entire course in safety is 4h30”. As a comparison, the record for the course is 1h42’01” by Italian Nadir Maguet and 2h05’36” by French woman Iris Pessey, both set in the first edition of the race in 2019.

An option for each runner to know their finishing time and required calorie consumption in advance is available with the new #MYSKYRACE plan based on a unique algorithm. It’s free for registered entrants of the two cancelled races or to any participant at a cost of only € 5 here.

For additional peace of mind, an annual insurance coverage plan is available for just €12 valid in Europe for racing and training. Check it out here

It’s time to get back on track!
